Last year, I published An Author’s Holiday Gift Guide which featured such gems as the Lululemon Run: Swiftly long sleeve Ts, Yonanas, and loads of books. This year, I’m feeling a bit inundated with holiday gift idea lists so I’ve decided that rather than create my own, I’d curate the best of the best so you don’t have to look anywhere else. So, here are my favorite holiday gift guides for 2014 (so far; the list keeps growing). Have one to recommend? Let me know in the comments below or contact me directly and I may include it… Happy shopping!
#1 BookSparks Gift Guide
Full disclosure: BookSparks is my PR firm and part of the family of companies that includes my publisher SparkPress. Nevertheless, I like to think they’d include my novel ON GRACE in their recommendations even if I weren’t a client ;-). Here are their 12 days of Christmas for book lovers.
#2 Lulu and Lattes Holiday Gift Guide
I interviewed Amy Selling, the mastermind behind this great blog, for The Balance Project (she’s #31). Her gift guide has great ideas for men, women, and kids. I already bought myself the running gloves Amy recommended and I have my eye on the evil eye bracelet she features.
#3 Goop’s Gift Guide
Leave it to Gwynnie (not yet a Balance Project interviewee, but on my wish list! Gwyneth, are you listening?) to compile a list of amazing ideas at all price points. There are some really unique things on this list including an accordion!
#4 LA Times Gift Guide
Thank you Robin Kugler for commenting below and suggesting the Los Angeles Times gift guide. What a great recommendation! This gift guide is so robust and is categorized for book lovers, gadget lovers, kids, and more. I got some great book ideas from this one. Thanks Robin!
#5 The Huffington Post’s 17 Empowering Gifts for Girls That Aren’t Pink or Sparkly
As the mom of three boys, I don’t have to worry about buying girl gifts, but you can be sure that if I had gotten my Katie or Julia or Charlotte or any of the other names I wasn’t able to use, I would have loved this gift guide (think forts, bricks, and Amelia Earhart).
#6 Clean Plates 2014 Holiday Gift Guide: The Great Eight
As Clean Plates says so perfectly, their gifts are “good for the recipient, good for the environment and just plain good to give.” They include goodies like a mushroom farm, special sea salts, honey whiskey, gluten-free cheesecake, and more.
#7 Liz and Lisa’s Favorite Books
I love Liz and Lisa. We’re virtual “author buddies” and they participated in The Balance Project here. They’ve each done a favorite-books of 2014 roundup and these are perfect guides for the book lovers in your life. Lisa’s list includes, among others, One Plus One by JoJo Moyes, Tempting Fate by Jane Green, and After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Liz’s list includes, among others, The Vacationers by Emma Straub, A Paris Apartment (one of my favorite covers of the year) by Michelle Gable, and Big Little Lies (one of my favorite books of the year) by Liane Moriarty.
More to come…
